Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

I want to go to therapy, now what?
Therapy works through the healing properties of a relationship. Therefore, it is important for the client and therapist to be a good match. A simple conversation over the phone can help both you and the therapist determine if he or she is the right fit for you.

Also be ready to state the issue that brought you to seek guidance.

Does my health insurance cover your services?
At this time, my practice is fee-for-service only as I am not on any insurance panels. Some insurance companies reimburse you for my services and I am willing to help facilitate this process if that is the case for you.

What is the difference between counseling and psychotherapy?
Counseling is shorter and aims at resolving a specific issue. Psychotherapy consists of a longer time span and treatment can range from months to more than a year.

What about medication?
Both psychotherapy and counseling treatments involve speaking with a professional. We do not and cannot prescribe medication. We can refer you to a psychiatrist as needed.
